Q: Is there a fee?
A: There is no team membership fee for the secondary sports teams this academic year 2025-2026.
Q: Are there tryouts?
A: Tryouts will be held if sign-ups for a sport exceed the maximum team capacity. Please note that a team will only be formed if we receive a sufficient number of sign-ups. All updates and decisions regarding team formation will be communicated via email which will be shared closer to the tournament dates.
Q: Are there trainings?
A: Training sessions are scheduled based on the sport, venue availability, and coach availability. After signing up, please wait for further announcements, which will be shared closer to the tournament dates.
Q: When and where will tryouts and trainings be held?
A: Specific tryout schedules (date, time, location) will be emailed to everyone who signs up once the registration period has closed. Please keep an eye on your school email after the form deadline.
Q: If I was on the team last year, do I still need to sign up again this year?
A: Yes. To ensure a fair and competitive selection process, all students must try out each year. This allows our coaches to evaluate current fitness, skill level, and commitment from everyone. Previous participation on a team does not guarantee a spot, but returning players are highly encouraged to try out and demonstrate their continued growth and dedication to the program.
Q: I signed up on the pre-sign-up form before the summer break. Do I need to sign up again on this form?
A: Yes, absolutely. The pre-sign-up form was for planning purposes to gauge interest and estimate numbers. This is the official confirmation form. Every student athlete who wishes to represent the KIS Tigers in ISSFHK Season 2 must complete this form to secure their place for tryouts and confirm their commitment.
Q: What if the sport I want to play isn't listed?
A: The form only includes sports that are officially offered by ISSFHK for Season 2. Any unlisted sports will not have a team this season. We encourage students to try one of the available sports instead. Please wait for the official sign-up announcement to be released before the season starts.
Q: How will I know my division?
A: AGE CLASSIFICATION
a. Under 12: U12 will include any student registered on a full time basis who is under age 12 as of July 31 of the current academic year.
b. Under 14: U14 will include any student registered on a full time basis who is under age 14 as of July 31 of the current academic year.
c. Under 16: U16 will include any student registered on a full time basis who is under age 16 as of July 31 of the current academic year.
d. Under 20: U20 will include any student registered on a full time basis who is under age 20 as of July 31 of the current academic year.
Q: How will I know if I successfully signed up?
A: After you submit the form, you will receive an automated email confirmation with a copy of your responses. Please check your inbox (and your spam/junk folder, just in case) and save or print that email for your records.
Q: I ticked the wrong box by accident / I changed my mind about which sport I want to play. Can I edit my response after I submit it?
A: Yes, you can edit your response. Your copy of response email will contain a link to edit your submission. Please use that link to make any changes. If you have any trouble, please email jsajo@kis.edu.hk before the form closing date.
Q: What equipment do I need? Do I need to buy my own?
A: The school typically provides major team equipment (e.g., balls, nets, goals). Students are usually expected to come prepared with appropriate personal gear like sport-specific shoes, athletic clothing, and water bottles. Specific requirements (e.g., shin guards for football, port-specific footwear) will be communicated by the coach after teams are formed.
Q: I have a conflict with the potential tryout/training days. Can I still try out or sign up?
A: Commitment and regular attendance are crucial for team sports. If you know you have a standing conflict (e.g., another commitment, tutoring), it may impact your ability to join the team. Please indicate your availability concerns in the form (Special Note section) or speak to the coach directly after teams are formed to discuss your specific situation.
Q: What is the time commitment for practices and games?
A: The time commitment varies by sport. Generally, teams can expect 1-2 training sessions per week before or after school, with trainings maybe happening on weekends. A more detailed schedule will be provided once teams are finalized.
Q: How do we get to the tournament venues?
A: Transportation will be provided both to the venue and back to school after the event. If you plan to leave the venue and go home directly after the match, you must complete the Post-Match Departure Permission Form. This form will be shared once training and tournament dates are finalized, prior to the start of the season.
