Two Year 11 students from KIS, Yajash and Kyle, have been recognised for exceptional performance during their Summer work experience placements, earning the prestigious opportunity to represent NATPAK as student ambassadors at the upcoming REthink Expo.
Both Yajash and Kyle's dedication, enthusiasm, and exemplary conduct throughout their placements impressed employers so much that they have been invited to act as student ambassadors for the company. This recognition includes complimentary conference passes, full access to networking opportunities, and the chance to gain valuable insights into future career pathways.
"Their professionalism and conduct have shown them to be true KIS ambassadors, representing our school values with distinction," said Ms Vilk Head of Careers, highlighting how both students' approaches reflected the high standards expected of the school community.
NATPAK, as a sustainable design company, shares our values of being future-conscious and helping students think about the needs of the world and where their interests intersect with making a positive impact on society and the environment.
"NATPAK recently had the pleasure of hosting three students from the Korean International School, Hong Kong, for our Sustainable Packaging & Product Internship. Over the course of a one-week program, these young interns gained valuable industry insights and hands-on experience. The interns participated in Recycle Day, deepening their understanding of the importance of waste management. They also collaborated closely with our design department, contributing to the creation of social media content. The reel created by them, provided a youthful perspective on our latest campaign and received wonderful engagement and appreciation from our audience. The students also practiced researching brand case studies and assisted with product shoots in preparation for our upcoming events."
This success story serves as an inspiring example for other Year 10 and Year 11 students who are considering their next steps. The message is clear: be a self-starter and seize the opportunities available to you.
Yajash and Kyle's achievements demonstrate that with the right attitude and commitment, students can make such a strong impression that employers want to continue working with them beyond their initial placement.
Students looking to follow in Yajash and Kyle's footsteps have multiple avenues available:
Careers HUB: Regularly check for work placement opportunities posted through the school's official careers platform
In-School opportunities: Experiences through taking up opportunities in the school community
Careers Fair - March 2026: Network with industry professionals and discover placement opportunities at this upcoming event
Proactive Networking: Take initiative in connecting with local businesses and industry contacts
Yajash and Kyle's achievements demonstrate the transformative potential of work placements when students approach them with the right attitude. The experience not only provides practical skills and industry insights but can also open doors to future opportunities, mentorship, and career advancement.
To Year 10 and Year 11 students: your next opportunity is waiting. Whether through the Careers HUB, the upcoming March 2026 Careers Fair, or your own networking efforts, take that first step. Show the same dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism that led to Yajash and Kyle's success.
The business community is looking for young people who demonstrate initiative and commitment. By taking up the mantle as self-starters, you too could find yourself representing major companies, attending industry conferences, and building the foundation for your future career.
The question isn't whether opportunities exist – it's whether you're ready to seize them, just like Yajash and Kyle did.
RACE WONG Winner!
Last weekend, the interns volunteered at the MUJI Community Market event, where our products—designed in collaboration with young artists—were showcased. One of these talented artists was Race Chloe Wong from KIS, who was the winner of the 2025 HK Interschool Sustainable Design Art Competition.
This event provided another fantastic opportunity for the students to engage directly with customers and promote our products. All proceeds from the market supported the LoveXpress ASD Youth Art Development Program. We hope to continue hosting more internships for the youth to further their enrichment outside the classroom.
KIS extends heartfelt gratitude to NATPAK for their exceptional commitment to nurturing young talent.
The fundraising activities for the students have worked on several levels: building their awareness of Social Enterprise, providing opportunity to practice employability skills, especially problem-solving and communication but they have also shown their wonderful motivation and determination to help others! This is testimony to our KIS families for raising such conscientious and caring children. In total we have raised over 2000K for the cause and LUUNA sent us the photos of the ladies receving their products - thanks to the students efforts.
Year 7D and Y11 students have been busy this month fundraising for LUUNA. Ian Lau of 7D has created a site to explain the great work that LUUNA do serving the underserved with free Period care in an attempt to address Period Poverty. Please check it out here.

Our students engage in various interactive activities that foster active listening abilities, allowing them to better understand instructions, collaborate with peers, and participate in discussions.
We are proud to announce that several students have received awards for their outstanding listening skills. These recognitions highlight the importance of this skill and motivate others to strive for excellence. By cultivating these abilities early on, we are equipping our students with the tools they need for a successful future in any career path they choose.
