What's in the IRG Collections?

The IRG collection comprises Asian (Oryza sativa) and African cultivated (Oryza glaberrima) rice, wild species and other related genera. The germplasm came from collecting missions from all over the world: donations from different countries or received for safety duplicate storage from national programs. With support from different funding agencies, IRRI staff, in coordination with national program personnel, exerted significant efforts to collect materials from under-explored areas in South and Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central America and Northern Australia. Up to this day, the IRG still conserves and maintains these precious materials received 60 years ago.

Country of origin

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by which country they originated. Country of origin could be the country where the sample was originally collected, bred or selected. The darker the color of a country on the map, the higher the number of IRG accessions originating from that country. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by country of origin, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of all IRG accessions by country of origin. The pie and bar charts show the top 15 countries with the highest number of IRG accessions under the selected criteria. By default, this page shows the count of available accessions. Data can be filtered through filter boxes (by continent, by country or by accession status) or through the table headers. Filtering will affect all the graphs and tables on the this page. The Reset filter button will remove all the filterings and go back to the default data. If 'Error 400' occurs, manually refresh the browser.

Source country

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions from which country they were acquired. The map shows that the darker the color of a country, the higher the number of IRG accessions obtained from that country. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by source country, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of all IRG accessions by source country. The pie and bar charts show the top 15 countries with the highest number of IRG accessions under the selected criteria. By default, this page shows the count of available accessions. Data can be filtered through filter boxes (by continent, by country or by accession status) or through the table headers.. Filtering will affect all the graphs and tables on the page. The Reset filter button will remove all the filterings and go back to the default data.  If 'Error 400' occurs, manually refresh the browser.

Species by country of origin

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by species and by which country they originated. The map shows that the darker the color of a country, the higher the number of IRG accessions originated from that country. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by species and country of origin, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of all IRG accessions by species and by country of origin. The pie and bar charts show the proportion of the total number of IRG accessions under the selected criteria and the count of accessions by species, respectively. By default, this page shows the count of available accessions. Data can be filtered through filter boxes (by continent, by country or by accession status) or through the table headers. Filtering will affect all the graphs and tables on the page. The Reset filter button will remove all the filterings and go back to the default data.  If 'Error 400' occurs, manually refresh the browser.

Species by source country

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by species and by which country they were acquired. The map shows that the darker the color of a country, the higher the number of IRG accessions acquired from that country. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by species and source country, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of all IRG accessions by species and by source country.

Acquisition year

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by which year or decade they were acquired. The bar graph shows the total number of IRG accessions by the decade of acquisition and accession status. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by acquisition year and the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of specific IRG accession by acquisition year, and accession status.

Biological status

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by their biological status. The bar graph shows the total number of IRG accessions by biological status. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by biological status and accession status, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of specific IRG accession by biological status and accession status.

Material type

This section shows the total number of IRG accessions by their material type. The pie chart on the left shows the proportion of the total number of IRG accessions by material type, whether regular genebank material or genetic stock. The pie chart on the right shows the proportion of the total number of IRG accessions of the genetic stock material by genetic stock type. The summary table on the first tab contains the total number of IRG accessions by material type and accession status, while the accession list table on the second tab contains the list of specific IRG accession by material type and accession status.
