Behavior Chart

The Clothespin Clip Chart is a simple discipline strategy for promoting positive behavior. All the students in the classroom have his/her name on it. The clothespins are clipped to a tall chart that is divided into 6 sections (see chart).

At the beginning of each day, all of clothespins are clipped to the “Ready to Learn” section. Then, during the day, students move their clothespins up or down based upon their behavior. Any student who has been asked to move his/her clothespin down a level or two has the opportunity to make better choices, improve behavior, and see his/her clothespin move to a higher level.

***The strategy behind this chart is to give the student the opportunity to improve behavior and not to be stuck on one level all day long.

At the end of the day, those students who have moved their name up or down from Ready To Learn will send home a picture card attached to their folder to let you know how their day went.
