Hi. My name is Dorrie Young. I have taught in Indian River Central School District for 28 years. During my tenure here, IR has provided me with a wealth of varied opportunities for growth and experience. I began my career here at the HS, teaching 9th and 10th grade mathematics. After 5 years, I transferred to the MS to teach 7th grade. For the next 13 years, I truly enjoyed helping these students develop both socially and intellectually. I then left the MS to work with the K-2 teachers in the Primary buildings. It was a remarkable opportunity to witness how math education begins and grows. Five years later, I returned to my home in the MS using my experience to help 7th graders who struggle with math. Through many additional classes I've taken on learning difficulties, I discovered instructional strategies that I was able to implement during the 3 years in that position. The 2019-20 school year will be my 3rd year back in a 7th grade math classroom.

I teach both 7th grade math and Advanced 7th grade math. Topics covered in each class are listed on other pages of my website along with instructional videos for each.. These are helpful if a student has forgotten what we went over in class. They have also been provided for students moving into or out of the district so they can learn about what they may have missed.
