The transition from 6th grade to 7th grade can be very difficult for students and parents. Kids are moving from elementary education, where there is a lot of guidance in daily procedures, to secondary education, where students are expected to be responsible for themselves, their learning and their behavior. It is during this 7th grade year that students develop independence. That is what makes it challenging.
The year begins with expectations of independent students. The curriculum moves at a faster pace and homework is assigned daily. If a child gets confused about a lesson, he/she needs to ask for help. I don't know of confusion unless they say something. It takes some time for kids to adjust to these differences. Support from home is very important. I am available after school everyday (except Wednesdays) until 3:30 to help students gain a better understanding of the material.
It is your child's responsibility to write down the HW for each subject in his/her planner. On Mondays, I happen to post the HW for the entire week on the board in my room. If you should ever want to verify the HW assignment, I have posted the Team 7A HW calendar below. Please do NOT use this as the primary source for assignments, as some may occasionally be adjusted or plans may change. If there is nothing posted for math, that DOES NOT mean there is no HW. It merely means that I didn't have a chance to enter the assignment. If there is no HW, I will enter NONE.
