Advanced Math 7 is twice as fast and twice as difficult as Math 7. I have even higher academic and behavioral expectations of these students. During the course of the 10 month school year, we will be covering the material from 7th AND 8th grades. It is very intense. There are certain qualities students must have in order to be successful in Advanced Math 7. They are listed below.
Students may try out this class if the appropriate criteria have been met in 6th grade. However, at the 5 week marking period, I will begin to contact parents of those children I believe are at risk of not achieving the required average of 85% Which must be maintained throughout the course. After 10 weeks, remaining students must continue in the Advanced class for the rest of the year, due to missing some content in Math 7.
WARNING: Though a student may remain in Advanced Math 7 for the year, I will only recommend him/her for Algebra if I see evidence of the qualities below and he/she has an average of 85% or higher.
