Balanced Literacy is a classroom-based, comprehensive school-wide approach to literacy instruction designed to increase literacy achievement for all students. Balanced Literacy provides a dynamic framework for reading, writing and word study. Additionally, the program allows for the training of a school-based literacy coach.
The literacy coach teaches children, demonstrates research-based teaching practices, provides in-class coaching and long-term professional development for teachers and coordinates ongoing data collection.
