7th Grade General Music

Instructor: Mrs. Sarah Cole

• Students receive music instruction for two consecutive quarters

• Students meet daily for 43min 

• The 7th Grade General Music Curriculum is directly tailored to the interests and strengths of the students enrolled in the course and aligns with the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts.  Current curriculum includes, but is not limited to:

  • Music Technology

  • Composition

  • Guitars

  • Music Industry and Business

  • Keyboards/Pianos 

  • Pitched Percussion Instruments: 

    •  Xylophones 

    • Boomwhachers

  • Unpitched Percussion Instruments:

    • Hand drums to include: tubanos, djembes

    • Accessory Percussion  

  • Music Genres 

  • World Music

  • Musical Theatre

  • Music Notation and Theory 

• Students enrolled in this class are generally not signed-up for another Middle School ensemble, such as band, chorus or orchestra - though this is not always the case.
