AIM Program
AIM Program
The following courses are offered by our AIM Special Education program. All courses are taught by certified Special Education teachers.
All courses are at taught the main building.
ZENGL2005 Functional Reading
District supported reading curriculum which is based on four units. Each unit has an essential question and essential understanding. Resources used include; Unique, News-2-You, and Reading A-Z. The curriculum contains general education methodologies but is presented with special education access. Students are enrolled in this course as indicated by eligibility and placement decisions as determined by IEP.
ZMATH1026 Consumer Math (AIM)
Program utilizes a multi-sensory math program aligned to standards on a foundation of essential skills for building useful and functional math knowledge. Students are enrolled in this program as indicated by eligibility and placement decisions as determined by IEP.

ZPE1002* Adaptive PE Semester 2
Adapted Physical Education is a class that provides students in Special Education the opportunity to work with peers in a positive and supportive environment. Students in this class build strong relationships in and out of the classroom. During Adapted PE, our athletes will be active through a variety of sports and activities. This class is similar to a general education class, with the main difference being class size and, at times, the pacing of instruction and activities. This class is a supportive learning environment for students with intellectual disabilities or physical disabilities. Students of all skill levels have the opportunity to work and compete together while also building respect that benefits all students in our school community. Students are placed in Adapted PE for any of the following reasons:

Vision or Hearing Impairment
Positive Peer Support
Social Skills
ZBUS1021 Daily Planning (AIM)
Program includes a daily planning course designed to help students get organized each day, and set up each student for success.
ZENGL1018 Communication Skills (AIM)
Program offers a course that specializes in sensory regulation and communication techniques or practices known as Communication Skills. Students will also participate in social groups which focus on effective use of communication. Students may work on communication skills in small groups or full group activities. Students will work on recreation and leisure skills in groups and independently. Students are enrolled in this program as indicated by eligibility and placement decisions as determined by IEP.
ZFACS1008 Home Maintenance (AIM)
Students reflect on their day in the form of a note home, complete a daily chore and pack up.
ZFACS1015 Life Skills (AIM)
Focus on increasing independence in regards to functional life skills, health and safety, and vocational skills.
ZBUS1024B Vocational Skills
Designed to teach basic work skills, completion of job interest inventories, and basic overview of types of jobs. This serves as an entry course to Jr/Sr Work Experience.
ZBUS3011 Work Experience (2 periods) (Jr/Sr Only)
Designed to prepare students for entry level employment, this course provides students the community experience needed to develop employability skills by interning and job shadowing at work training sites in the community 4 days a week. Business partnerships include grocery stores, animal care sites, warehouses, childcare sites, custodial sites, restaurants, nursing homes, garden centers and retail stores. Students are exposed to a variety of career areas to help them define their job preferences and interests. Students practice soft skills in community work settings, and develop a digital portfolio in the classroom to learn and practice job seeking skills such as job applications, resumes and job interviews.
