Submit to The Essence
If you have questions about whether or not your submissions made it in to be considered, ask Ms. Schneider by coming to B100 (English Office) or email her at gillian_schneider@ipsd.org.
We accept any form of writing, such as poems, short stories, screen plays, stage plays, monologues, rants, ramblings, villanelles, sonnets, ballads, free verse, prose, and so on. We accept any form of art, including: photography, oil paintings, watercolor paintings, acrylic paintings, charcoals, graphite drawings, colored pencil drawings, oil pastels, watercolor paintings, graphic designs, sculptures, jewelry and so on.
We are also accepting any original music, short films, animations, music videos, dance performances, and clothing designs. The best way to submit your music and videos is to make a YouTube video and send us the link to it, or send us the actual mp3 or video files. If we have issues viewing your submissions, we will make sure to email you with suggestions of how to send your work.
In order for a submission to be considered for the magazine, you must include your name and student ID number. Anonymous submissions are not accepted or put into the magazine. Please remember this is a school publication and thus must be school appropriate.
REMEMBER: We do not make decisions about whether or not a piece is in until AFTER our deadline. Even then, we are not permitted to reveal who is in. If you made it into the magazine, you will receive a invitation to the Publication Party at a later date.
