About Me

I want to take this moment to introduce myself. I am Brad Persson aka Mr. Persson aka Mr. P. I am the Physical Education teacher at Gwendolyn Brooks Elementary School. I began my career at Brooks in 1999. Before Brooks I was a student at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (Go Illini!) where I graduated with Honors with a BS in Kinesiology. In 2005 I received my Masters in Education Administration from Northern Illinois University. I have taken coursework in various fields of education to keep myself fresh and up to date in this ever changing field. I am a fan of all sports. I enjoy playing anything from basketball to football and ping pong to golf. I love watching the Bears on Sundays in the Fall, sitting at Comiskey (I can't call it Guaranteed Rate Field) during the summer cheering on the White Sox, the Blackhawks, and of course my beloved Illini football and basketball teams (although sometimes they are not so easy to watch). I have been married to my wife, Jenny, since 2002. Jenny and I were blessed with our son, Gavin, in March of 2007, our daughter Molly in January of 2010 and in July of 2012 our son Colin Baines (if you're a Sox fan, yes, that Baines). We have enjoyed watching Gavin, Molly and Colin grow and we enjoy seeing the world for the first time through their eyes. Professionally, I enjoy working with the students of Brooks and sharing my love of athletics and exercise with them. Here's to a great year in PE at Brooks!
