'IOLANI WINS HONUA FINALS 2024 - THE WORLD CUP OF INTERSCHOLASTIC SURFING!

Congratulations to 'Iolani surfers Castle Foti, Ace Arizumi, Sunny Kazama, Kekoa Lufrano, Nigel Palalay, Kaya Pestana, Cole Antonellis, La'au Peloso, Kaya Okimoto, Spencer Churchill, Lei Crowley, and Malu Peloso for winning the Honua Finals 2024 - The World Cup of Interscholastic Surfing at Ala Moana Bowls. The Raiders defeated Kamehameha Schools - Kapalama, Team Kauai, Ke Kula 'O Samuel M. Kamakau, Huntington Beach High School, King Kekaulike, Baldwin, Kahuku, Maui Prep, Whangamata Area School (NZ), and Hawaii Academy of Arts and Sciences (Big Island) with a total team score of 6958 points. This victory solidifies 'Iolani Surf as the top high school surf program in Hawai'i and one of the top teams in the world.

SURF CONTEST #10 AT SANDY BEACH/FULL POINT
(Saturday, March 9th, 2024; 8:00 P.M. - 9:15 A.M.)
Congratulations to 'Iolani surfers for defeating Kamehameha Schools - Kapalama by the score of 56.5 - 48.5 in event #10 of the HSP High School Surf Challenge Series to capture the ILH and HSA surfing state championships. In the last event of the 2023-24 regular surf season, the two teams were tied going into the final boys and girls longboard heats. Raiders' longboarders rallied to take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place to defeat the Warriors.
'Iolani's Castle Foti, Sunny Kazama, Kekoa Lufrano, Eva Dziadurski, Nigel Palalay, Kaya Pestana, Ace Arizumi, La'au Peloso, Kaya Okimoto, Spencer Churchill, Maia Kazama, Ryder Kam, Hudson Lin, Kala'i Gerell, Lei Crowley, and Mohai Peloso battled all season to finish with an outstanding 9-1 record. Their determination and dedication was the key factor in the team's success this season. The state championship victory qualifies the team for the NSSA Interscholastic Surfing National Championships in Salt Creek (Dana Point, CA) in June.

All competition surfers please arrive at Sandy Beach by 11:30 A.M. so that the team can warm up, discuss strategy, and check in with judges.

The 'Iolani surfers clinched another victory this week defeating Farrington High School by a score of 71-27 in event #5 of the HSP Hawai’i High School Surf Challenge season.
Congratulations to Raiders surfers Kala’i Gerrell ‘27, Kaya Okimoto '27, Ryder Kam ‘25, Jase Konishi '25, Ace Arizumi '26, Kaya Pestana ‘26, and Sunny Kazama '24. Many of the 'Iolani surfers stepped up and competed in multiple heats in extremely challenging surf conditions at Maili Point to help secure the team's fifth victory of the season.

Congrats to all 'Iolani surfers who braved very large North Shore wave conditions. In the final Hawai'i contest of the season, 'Iolani surfers lost a close match against Punahou at Turtle Bay/Stables. The onshore winds, long paddle, and choppy conditions were not ideal, but our surfers had the most fun.

'Iolani surfers gave outstanding performances against Kahuku and Le Jardin on Saturday, 4/11. With many of our top surfers out taking the SAT exam or competing in other athletic sports, we once again rose to the occasion against top surf teams. Unfortunately, we came up just short against first-place team Kahuku and defeated Le Jardin who forfeited adding another win to our season record (3-2).

'Iolani surfers came up short in a very close surf contest against Kamehameha Schools - Kapalama in Event #3 of the Hawaii Surfing Association's High School Surf Challenge series at Sandy Beach (Full Point) on Saturday, 3/4/2023. Huge congratulations to surfers Kekoa Lufrano (1st Place - Boys Shortboard), Castle Foti (1st Place - Boys Longboard, 2nd Place - Boys Shortboard), Mohai Peloso (who competed in all three heats of Girls Shortboard, Girls Longboard, and Co-Ed Bodyboard), Tamzen Lim, Mie Keene, Sunny Kazama, Noah Scherman, Ethan Kobayashi, and Spencer Churchill.
