Foundation

The Foundation Course is for students who would like a more in-depth introduction to Shiatsu.

You can complete the Foundation Course as a self-contained course or as the first part of our one year Certificate in Holistic Acupressure.  

Therapists who already hold a qualification in other areas  may also find this course to be a valuable addition to their continuing professional development.

This course is ideal for complete beginners who are interested in learning about Shiatsu.  You do not need any previous experience. 

 This course provides a detailed introduction to shiatsu.  In this course you will learn: 

• Core skills for giving shiatsu

• Treatment routines for clients in prone, supine, side and sitting positions

• The basic skills of observation using the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine

• Self-care exercises

• Introduction to anatomy

You complete two  short assignments during the attendance weekends and complete  5 treatments across the 3 months.  

You will be thoroughly advised and prepared for the assessments.  

Following completion a Certificate of Completion will be sent to you so that you can evidence your achievement.

It comprises six days over three weekends which may be completed as a self-contained course or as the first part of the one year Certificate. 

The course days run from 10am until 5pm on Saturdays and from 10am until 4.30pm on Sundays. 

There is normally a 45 minute break for lunch and 15 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon. 

Come in comfortable rather than tight fitting clothing.  Leggings and tracksuits are ideal.

All our courses take place at 4GoodHealth, Cherrytree Offices, Union Road, Sheffield, S11 9EF. 

You can progress to the one year Certificate in Holistic Acupressure.  Your Foundation course will be accredited as prior achievement and count towards the certificate.  

The  course fee is £300 for the 6 days.  There are no additional costs

Weekend 2:  4/5 October 2025

Weekend 3:  1/2 November 2025

 A deposit is not necessary, and the course fees can be paid in monthly instalments if preferred. To reserve a place please complete and return a form to the above address prior to the start of the course.
