In Unit 5 students design, implement, and document projects to improve food security in their communities.
They collaborate with peers in cities around the world as they create solutions with their classmates in their local communities. They may start an event, an artistic production or a visual town hall.
In the Community Action Project, students will identify a food security issue in their community and work together as a class to address the issue. Students will choose a digital project type and tool to create a presentation and share their work with their international peers.
Enduring Understandings:
I can create local solutions to global challenges.
I can collaborate with people in my community and around the world to create better solutions and make a bigger impact than if I work alone.
I can share my work with people in my city and around the world to inspire them to take action.
They followed the design process to make a plan, take action, and share the results!
In the Brainstorm activity, they review food security issues they learned about and identify potential actions to address those issues in their community. After students made a comprehensive list, they started to identify the issues and actions that are most relevant for their community. They shared their initial ideas in Global Discussion: Project Brainstorm and asked their peers for feedback and new ideas.
