We will be using our communication and language skills to recognise, name and react to out feelings in a positive way.
We will begin to notice the effects of our own actions on others and begin to identify how our friends are feeling (e.g. happy, sad, worried)
We will be taking part in activities that help us to listen to each other and take turns to express our views.
We be exploring what it is like to be part of a school community. We will use our characters skills to help us settle into school life.
Later on in the term, we will begin to describe ourselves positively and notice the similarities and differences in those around us. We will begin to understand that everyone is unique and that everyone is special. We will then extend this knowledge to our families and how families have different traditions and that is what makes each family special.
We will be developing our fine and gross motor skills by exploring the different areas of provision both inside and outside of the classroom. We will have opportunities to snip, squeeze, pinch, roll and thread at our funky fingers activities. In our outside provision we will have open ended opportunities to build and create with large scale construction equipment.
This term we will be listening to and retelling our core text and favourite five stories. We will be learning new vocabulary which we will be encouraged to use in our daily routines at school.
We will be exploring the initial sounds of words and learning how to write our names independently.

Each week we will bring home a reading book linked to our phonic sessions and a story book to share with you to help develop a love of reading.
We will be exploring the composition of numbers to 10 by linking the number symbol (numeral) with its cardinal number value through actions, sounds and practical experiences. We will be using a variety of resources to represent number through the draw it, build it, write it, count it approach.
Through our core text 'I Am Enough' we will be exploring different ways to mark make and will be developing our observational skills when creating self portraits.
We will also have opportunities to use our imagination, creativity and self expression as we explore colour mixing, textiles, song and dance.
We will develop an understanding of the world around us and the changes that we see as we move through the seasons.
We will also be observing the changes to our environment as we participate in Nature School.
