Many factors within the child and family affect attendance – poverty, mental health, family attitudes. These can often be difficult for schools to tackle. But research suggests that just as important are factors within schools themselves, factors that are ‘within our gift’ to change. In this session, our special guest, Jean Gross CBE, will explore this research and suggest practical strategies to increase children’s sense of belonging, build relationships with families and adjust the environment to respond to neurodiversity.
