Many factors within the child and family affect attendance – poverty, mental health, family attitudes. These can often be difficult for schools to tackle. But research suggests that just as important are factors within schools themselves, factors that are ‘within our gift’ to change. In this session, our special guest, Jean Gross CBE, will explore this research and suggest practical strategies to increase children’s sense of belonging, build relationships with families and adjust the environment to respond to neurodiversity.

In this session, Rob Carpenter, CEO of Inspire Partnership Trust, will explore how a well-designed curriculum can play a key role in promoting strong school attendance. We will also hear from several schools as they share their progress in implementing new attendance practices, reflecting on successes and ongoing challenges.

In this meeting will be discussing effective use of attendance data. As part of the meeting, several schools will also discuss progress to date in implementing their new attendance practice. There will also be an opportunity for review and to consider if further changes need to be made.
