to be a girl

This week the students of 3rd ESO have been doing a project about The right to be a girl. This topic is in the program of SAVE THE CHILDREN this year. It is an NGO that fundraises to provide basics for children from poor countries such as Somalia or Nigeria but this one is set in the Horn of Africa (Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia,Kenya, Sudan,,South Sudan, Uganda and Somalia).

The assignment is related to the unit Can I help? that we have worked in the English class in the 1st term. The main goal of this unit has been that the students have had the opportunity to reflect on how they can help others in their daily life and learn some new vocabulary related to this topic.

This project aims to spread the balance between men and women but its main point is to try to stop teenage marriage and pregnancies, and as a result many girls stop going to school and this fact prevents them from having a worthy future.

The topics included in the project are the following:

-Save the Children

-Location of the Horn of Africa

-Weather

-Society

-Covid-19

-Zero hunger

-Gender equality

The completion of these activities has made students think about the difficulties some teenagers have and realize that they should be thankful for the things they own because some people can not afford to have any luxuries.
