OUR HIGH SCHOOL

INS Alba del Vallès is the center of reference for Sant Fost de Campsentelles, Martorelles and Santa Maria de Martorelles. Our name, very poetic, comes from the fact that Sant Fost de Campsentelles is the first town in Vallès Oriental where the sun rises.

We have developed our activities since the 1995-96. In our facilities, more than 640 students and more than 50 professionals live together daily.

We teach secondary education and batxillerat, both scientific and humanistic. We work strategically, we have a plan for attention to diversity, our own teaching projects (like STEAM), personalized tutorial attention, quality and excellence plans, we take part into an Erasmus + program…

We have very good coexistence because of the importance given to social cohesion. For this reason, we promote cultural and recreational celebrations such as Carnival, Christmas, Saint George...

There are several linguistic activities carried out in the centre such as:

• ERASMUS + : After 3 years trying to take part in the Erasmus + program, our school has been able to participate in one of its projects. From 2018 to 2020, a group of students and teachers from our school participate in a collaborative project with 4 schools from other countries.

The project, called OUTDOOR EDUCATION, is co-funded by the Erasmus + Program of the European Union and it consists of an investigation on how to improve student learning through outdoor activities.

This project is carried out by 5 different schools from different parts of Europe and each school developed a subject: Turkey-History, Portugal-Biology, Romania-Literature, Italy-Mathematics and Spain-Art.

The experience is a great opportunity for all the members involved in the project: students, teachers and families.

The high school is currently working to be able to get involved in a new Erasmus + project once this one is over.

• GEP Project: The GEP Project aims improving students’ competence in foreign languages supporting their academic growth and preparing them to interact with the whole world in different languages under a critical view. It consists on dealing with different subjects or some sections of them in a foreign language, and so students have an approach to the contents and improve their skills in that language, using it as a tool to communicate and express themselves.

The goals of this programme are to increase the exposure time of students to foreign languages and also to assist our school throughout the process of developing and consolidating their own multilingual project.

• ENGLISH FESTIVAL: Once a year, our first of ESO students take part in the English Festival. It’s a festival in which students from 6th grade of primary and 1st of ESO from Sant Fost de Campsentelles, Martorelles and Santa Maria de Martorelles, prepare a musical performance in English.

We have developed the English Festival into a project and we also prepare a special performance for parents. Physical education, English and art are only some of the subjects involved in this project.

• TRIP TO IRELAND: During the second term, our students from second batxillerat have the chance to take part into a one week cultural trip to Ireland. There, they do a guided route around the main touristic points of the island.

• THEATRE IN ENGLISH: First and third of ESO students go every year to the theatre to watch a theatre play in English. After the play, there is a talk with the actors and actresses in English language.

• PENPALS: Our first of ESO students take part into the Cambridge penfriends programme. Thanks to this programme, they exchange letters in English with students from schools from all around the world.
