GEP 1

During this first GEP 1 year, our teachers have designed four different lessons divided for two didactic units: time zones and units of measure.

Didactic Unit 1: Time zones

Time zones - Lesson 1

It is a three session lesson aimed to 1st Secondary students. During these lessons, our students will learn how to use integer numbers by working with real travelling situations and flights details.

Session 1: Introduction of time zones and time zones vocabulary.

Session 2: Introduction of integer numbers.

Session 3: Practice with real situations.

Time zones - Lesson 2

During these lessons, our students will learn how to use integer numbers by working with real travelling situations and flights details by mean of a spreadsheet.

Session 1: What is a spreadsheet? Parts of a worksheet and how to use it.

Session 2: Let there be a spreadsheet! The making of an update airport flight board.

Didactic Unit 2: Units of measure

Units of measure - Lesson 1

These two sessions are the introduction to the conversion factors unit. Before starting using them, students cooperatively work on an fictitious text about the history of numbers. Activities such as puzzle reading, google forms, and debates help them understand conversion factors.

Session 2: Debate about the history of numbers.

Units of measure - Lesson 2

It is a three session lesson aimed to 1st Secondary students. These three sessions are the introduction to the units of measure unit.

Before starting using them, students cooperatively work on an fictitious text about real mistakes related with this topic. Activities such as the elephant reading, ordering flashcards, and running dictation help them understand the importance of units of measure.

Session 1: Reading activity about real mistakes in history with the units of measure.

Session 2: Writing the stories.

Session 3: Running dictation and assessment.

GEP 2

During this second GEP year, our teachers have designed a PBLproject about geometry. It is a nine session lesson aimed to 2nd Secondary students. During these lessons, our students will learn how to use area and volume calculations to create sustainable products.

Mission: Creating a container with the minimum amount of material and low environmental impact.

Session 1: Vocabulary and area and volume calculation.

Session 2: Calculating area and volume.

Session 3: Analysing commercial brand containers. Debate.

Session 4: Building optimal containers.

Session 5: TAG feedback session.

Session 6: Building optimal containers and self-assessment.

Session 7: Presentation of their final product and peer assessment.

Session 8: Presentation of their final product and peer assessment.

Session 9: Work exhibition.
