Life Skills

Life Skills are an important part of life.

One of the benefits of teaching practical life skills is not just getting kids to help with chores, but kids start to better understand the amount of work parents have to do. They appreciate the value of what goes into taking care of a home, learn responsibility and become all around more thoughtful kids. Life Skills help build independence, be problem solvers, work well with others, develop stronger communication skills, and much more.

Can your child....

  • Empty the dishwasher and put dishes away
  • Do the dishes
  • Make their bed
  • Make a snack
  • Clean the windows
  • Ride a bike
  • Tidy their room
  • Help cook dinner
  • Tie their shoelace
  • Clean their teeth
  • Cooking/Baking (adult supervision depending on age)
  • Setting and clearing the table
  • Get dressed by them self
  • Pack their school bag
  • Use their manners
  • Work as a team/with others
  • Use a vacuum
  • Use a broom to sweep
  • Put rubbish in the correct bins
  • Fold some washing/laundry

Activity Idea: Talk with your child about Life Skills and chose something they can work on. Maybe this could be a goal for them. :)
