Multidisciplinary discussion, this is the key.

Multidisciplinary aspects will be covered, ranging from design, planning and control to psychophysics, usability, and accessibility evaluation of technologies.

The workshop is open to any student, researcher as well as developer and end user interested in designing/using haptic devices for human visual feedback substitution. Targeted applications are not limited to VIP assistance but rehabilitation and human robot interaction in general.

The goal is to encourage the discussion between technology developers, experts in human sensory-based perception and cognition, VIP navigation experts, end users, and stakeholders to move from a correct understanding of perceptual requirements and accessibility needs of VIP towards devising suitable tools and guidelines for the development of effective artificial systems. With this goal, a final open discussion session will review and analyze all the insights presented during the workshop, aiming at fostering discussions between different areas of expertise and end users.
