Laura Young, ISR Certified Instructor

I was born and raised in the East Bay, and I now live in Pleasant Hill with my husband, Brian. We recently welcomed our first baby, Cassidy, in October, and our family wouldn't be complete without our first-born (Golden Retriever), Milo.

I've always been interested in working with kids, and started as a junior coach for the Crow Canyon Sea Lions in Danville where I swam from age 5-19. I completed my Master's of Education in Special Education in 2015 and I now teach at Vista Grande Elementary.

I like to spend my time in the sunshine and in the water. For the past 17 years, I have given traditional swim lessons during the Spring and Summer. As I started to get contacted by my former teammates to provide lessons for their young children, I started to think beyond getting a child comfortable with the water, and more about getting them safe and skilled. 

I knew about Infant Swimming Resource through my cousins, who became Instructors in Florida, and I decided to pursue the training myself. Though I have experience with stroke-work and lifeguarding, through ISR training, I have learned about sensorimotor learning, water safety, and drowning prevention, and am excited to bring this knowledge to the Diablo Valley community.
