It's been lovely to start getting to know all of the Cherry Tree children and staff - there are a lot of names to learn!
We have had a very busy and hardworking week. The new Nursery and Reception children have settled in beautifully and are already following the school routines. Mrs Hibberd and myself have been into all of the classrooms on a daily basis to see how the children are learning. We are having a big focus on foundational skills, ensuring the children are forming their letters and numbers correctly and taking pride in their work.
Mrs Jackson
Ofsted visited us on Tuesday and Wednesday last week to inspect all aspects of the school. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the parent survey; your feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We were very pleased with how the inspection went, but we must wait around 18 working days for the official report. As soon as we receive the final report, we will share the results with you all. Attendance remains a top priority for us.
Year 6 had a fantastic camping trip to the South Downs, exploring the beach and taking part in lots of exciting activities. A huge thank you to all the staff who accompanied them—a great time was had by all.
Our Year 2–4 pupils had a fantastic time with the author Olaf Falafel!
They enjoyed lots of laughs, found out more about his books and even followed a step-by-step tutorial to draw a character from The Far Out Five: Portal Loo Panic!
It was a brilliant opportunity for the children to see just how much fun books, stories and creativity can bring.
We hope the visit has inspired even more of our young readers to pick up a book and get lost in a story!
Our Year 3 children had a wonderful time on their trip to Leavesden Park. They enjoyed exploring the park grounds and discovering the interactive sculptures.
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Knebworth House! They spent the day exploring the beautiful grounds and touring the historic house, collecting exciting vocabulary and ideas that could be used to persuade someone to come and visit.
