Welcome back! It has been wonderful to see all of the children and to see how beautifully Nursery and Reception children have settled in at Beechfield.
We hope you enjoyed reading our Ofsted report which we shared with everyone at the beginning of term. We were thrilled to be recognised as Strong Standard for Inclusion and Achievement and we are continuing to build on this success.
Our statutory attendance was 99.3% in the first week of term. This was an excellent start to the school year.
We were very happy to receive the Parent Choice Award and Parent Feedback in Action Award from Edurio this week. It is very encouraging to hear what our parents think.

Year 4 had a wonderful time at St Albans Cathedral exploring what life was like in Roman times. The children became archaeologists during the blanket dig, looking carefully for clues about the past. They also took part in Roman role play, trying on costumes and handling a soldier’s shield. Another highlight was following a Roman recipe and preparing the ingredients together. It was lovely to see the children so curious and involved throughout the day.
Year 1 enjoyed their trip to the British Schools Museum. The children looked at some toys from the past which links to their History learning for this half term. They also got dressed up in period costume and experienced what it was like in a Victorian classroom.
The Rotary Club recently visited bringing an English Dictionary for every student in Y6.
The children were very excited to receive this gift to use in school and at home.
