VEGAS is deep, multi-band imaging survey, carried out with the VLT Survey Telescope (VST)
By combining the wide (1 deg2) field-of-view of OmegaCAM@VST and the long integration time, together with a specifically designed observing strategy, VEGAS has proven to be a gold mine for studies of very faint surface brightness features down to levels of μg~27-30 mag/arcsec2, over 5-8 mag fainter than the dark sky on Paranal.
Started in 2013, with more than 700 hrs of observing time, VEGAS is among the largest dataset of deep and multi-band images for 32 groups and 13 clusters of galaxies, spanning halo mass range from 1010 to 1014 solar masses, and covering a total area on the sky of ~113 deg2, in the redshift range z<0.2
