The Solaris Odyssey, 1st step: development of the prototype at the University of Milan
A small 1.5m simplified version of Solaris is present in our laboratories at the University of Milan for instrumentation development, validation and early tests. The "first light" was successfully obtained on March 2024, observing the brightness profile of the solar disk in the 86.7-102.9 GHz frequency range.Â
The presence of the Solaris prototype in the courtyard of the University will also offer a direct and concrete educational, training and outreach perspective on solar physics, space weather and related technologies.
