The Solaris Odyssey, 2nd step: a station at the mountains  providing mid-latitude solar coverage

A 2.6m radio telescope similar to those existing in Antarctica is being installed at 3500m a.s.l. on the Italian Alps ("Testa Grigia" (TG)  station, Plateau Rosa, Vallee d'Aoste, Italy). We can fully develop and test the Solaris system there with good sky opacity conditions and in an extreme mountain environment, though more accessible than remote Antarctic sites. In perspective this additional station can offer mid-season solar coverage complementary to polar monitoring.

Solaris TG station is presently under development (finalisation of the opto-mechanics and telescope system expected during Spring 2024).
