OMNICAM is a camera system based on the bifocal panoramic lens.
A motorized version has been developed by INAF and SpaceClick to be tested during the ESA PANGAEA geological field training for astronauts during the last campaign of November 2021.
A prototype of OMNICAM has also been mounted on board of two rovers during the ESA-ESRIC robotic challenge for prospecting lunar resources.
One rover is managed by Spaceclick and MIST Lab (Canada) , the second one is managed by Zentrum fur Telematik and the robotic group of Julius Maximilien University (Wurzburg).
During the November 2021 ESA-PANGAEA campaign, OMNICAM has been tested to prove its functionalities in order to help astronauts walking on a simulated planetary surface. The test took place at Lanzarote island, see pictures below.
