By means of it PRIN-INAF-Innovations, INAF funded a project for the purpose of exploring potential transfer technology areas for the panoramic lenses. Both static and dynamic omnidirectional panoramic systems are under development.
Some preliminary results are here exposed:
Static monitoring from a tripod
When the lens is mounted on a tripod, it records the whole surrounding environment. The images are sent in real-time to the remote control room, where the operator can identify possible place of interest.
In the video we can see an example of images as viewed by the remote operator by means of mobile devices.
Dynamic monitoring from a helmet
Our models Marco and Emanuele while trying out a new trendy hat for the coming fashion season...
...Waiting this style will break through they record the movie aside, as tracking a walking man.
If the lens is mounted on an user helmet than it follows the user path. The frontal field is pointing to the frontal view and eventual pointing actions are performed by the explorer himself, by means of proper movements.
