CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILY MINISTRIES
The presence of children is a gift to the Church. We believe that children and youth are vital parts of our faith and community, and so are those who bring them to Immanuel. We encourage parents or guardians of young children to relax. God put a wonderful energy in children that we feel should not be discouraged especially in God’s house. We know church can be a majestic and sacred place, but we love and welcome the liveliness and curiosity of our youngest members.
Parents should feel free to quietly explain the parts of the service, sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children
learn about worship by copying you. If you need to get up, step outside and/or move around because your child is restless,
please feel free to do so, but please come back to the service. We also provide activity bags in the back that you may take
with you to your pew if you would like and find them helpful. In addition, below are some of our current ministries we offer
routinely to the parish.
Nursery care is provided every Sunday during the worship service for our littlest members ages 3 and under. As mentioned, children of all ages are always welcome to come to our services. However, we are happy to provide this resource for our parents if needed.
Children’s Sunday Formation – Offered here during our weekly worship service on the 1st Sunday of the month
(Sept - May). Drop-off begins at 9:50 AM in the Parish House and children return to their parents in church for Holy Communion. Our Current curriculum is Weaving God's Promises and designed for children ages 4 years - 5th grade. Weaving God's Promises promotes our belief that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. This program helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through lessons and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, this method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond.
Children's Homily - The Second Sunday of each month a special homily is offered during the service and is open to all children. We will invite all those interested to come up front for a short lesson.
Children, Youth and Family Ministries
Children and Youth are invited to practice their ministries and help lead worship in several ways that include but are not limited to:
Acolytes for ages 8 and up.
Readers need the ability to read aloud and in front of the congregation.
Chalice Bearer during communion ages 16 and up.
Children Youth and Family Activities
Throughout the year we offer many events and activities that are designed for all ages and families. The Summer Splash picnic, Blessing of the animals, Trunk or Treat, and Easter Egg Hunt are to name just a few of our regular events, but there are more you may learn about by subscribing to the newsletter.
ADULT FORMATION
Adult Formation is offered on many Sundays during the months of September - May in the Parish House immediately following refreshments. During this hour we dive deeper into God’s word and explore practical and effective ways in which we can grow and apply our faith. We explore a wide variety of topics during adult formation. All adults are welcome to attend, no matter where you are in your faith journey!
