Good mental health is important for doing well in your studies.
It is quite common for students to experience distress or mental health difficulties.
Mental health difficulties can make it challenging to be successful in your studies and can impact your personal life too!
If you need any assistance, or would like to chat with someone about your situation, just drop into Student Services.
Our staff will listen, give you support and guide you in the right direction.
Hot tea or coffee is always kept available to our students!
We know that students are simultaneously trying to balance work and study.
If you need to work and study, we want to make sure you have a good plan in place.
Here are a few tips to avoid being overloaded:
Be organised and have a plan
Make sure you have a flexible schedule
Prioritise your work/study and be realistic
Communicate with others
Avoid wasting time
Learn how to manage your stress
Remember it is not just about work & study. You should also make sure that you enjoy life outside of your work and study.
This is very important! We understand this too. Very often students don't allow themselves enough time to relax and enjoy quality time with friends.
Your study time will only make up a small percentage of your life in total. Remember that other areas of your life will help you grow just as well!
If you are having trouble or finding things hard, you should know that Student Services provides a free and confidential counselling service.
Student Services can help you adjust to life in Hobart, deal with changes or personal situations, and support you through tough times.
It is important to know that you are not alone in dealing with the pressures you may face as a student. All members of our team are willing to offer guidance and support if required. Our Senior Student Services Manager and the Academic and Administrative teams have an open-door policy and are willing to talk to you about any matters you may be facing.
Individual assistance is available for students in need of specialised counselling via counselling@imc.edu.au.
