INTRODUCTION OF THE GROUP AND THE ACTIVITY
Our group presents a work proposal titled "Unity Elite: Empowering Community Through SULAM”. This project was done by second-year students in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic session for the BH31303 Human Resource Economics course in conjunction with ASTIF students. The project is intended to complete the requirements of the university group assignment and participate in community volunteers. SULAM refers to voluntary activities that are done by individuals or groups without any gain to be made from them, but rather emphasizes on the good deeds to the society. This particular project will be implemented in the community of Kg. Melangkap Baru, Kota Belud. The current SULAM project focuses on building human capital within a community. The local knowledge and heritage activities integrated in the project enhances understanding and participation by involving ASTIF students.
The activity seems to be a batik clay workshop, a creative twist on traditional batik fabric art. Instead of using dye on fabric, participants appear to be using a clay or paste to create patterns. This method likely involves laying down outlines with a clay-based material, which might later be colored or further embellished. The table is covered with plastic, which is practical for easy cleanup of materials like clay. The patterns on the white sheets, especially the repetitive geometric shapes, are typical of batik designs, reflecting traditional motifs. This kind of workshop not only promotes cultural arts but also offers a tactile and engaging experience for participants of all ages, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation. So, a group of people engaging in a craft activity where they are applying clay on fabric, specifically on white cloths stretched over frames and fabric clips. This setting might be part of a workshop or a community event.
