The University of Illinois is conveniently located at the junction of I 57, I 74 and I 72. All roads lead to the School of Information Sciences, the iSchool at Illinois! The building (501 E. Daniel St, Champaign) is on the SE corner of 5^th and Daniel Streets. Please use the embedded google map to find the best route to Champaign.

CAUTION: The main street through campus town, Green Street, is undergoing several construction projects this summer! Both east and west lanes of Green Street is closed between Neil and Locust. An alternate east-west street to use to approach 5^th and Daniel is Springfield Avenue.

There is also construction on Green Street in front of the Illini Union. East-bound Green Street, the circle drive in front of the Union and the north entrance to the Union will be closed. One west-bound lane from Lincoln to Wright will be open. Approach the Union from the west on Green Street for access to the D10 parking lot, just east of the Union. You will be able to enter the building from the east entrance. Your parking pass, included with your room, will only be valid for D10.

There are both University and Champaign city meters on campus, each with different regulations.

University meters

All university meters have a “block I” on them and cost .25/15 minutes ($1.00/hour). Meter rates of $1/hour may be paid by coins (quarters, dimes, or nickels), CashKey, or the PayByPhone app. Posted on each meter are the hours of enforcement and maximum time limits, which include 30 minutes, and 2, 8, or 10 hours. Ten-hour university meters are located at the main library lot and in the parking structure on the corner of 6^th and John. These are monitored 6:00 am-5:00 pm, M- F.

We strongly suggest purchasing daily parking passes through the Summer Getaway registration site for $12 per day. Avoid the hassle of feeding a meter throughout the day! If you purchase through the registration process, we will have the pass waiting for you in the morning upon your arrival at the iSchool. The passes can be used at any UNIVERSITY meter. Two lots and one parking structure with University meters are within a block's distance from the iSchool. The lots are: C9 (5^th & Chalmers), C3 (6^th between John & Daniel). The parking structure is C7 (6th & John). No 2am-6am parking is allowed.

After 5:00 p.m., all university meters and university spaces are available free of charge (except those with 24/7 rental signs) including the iSchool back lot (C-5) and the parking garage in front of the iSchool.

Champaign City meters

The meters on the streets around the iSchool are two-hour city meters. Rates are .75/hour or $1.00 per hour at meters displaying a blue label affixed to the post. Payment may be made by coins (quarters, dimes, or nickels), CashKey, or the Mobile Meter app. These are monitored 7:00 am-9:00 pm, M-Sat and are free on Sundays. No 3am- 5am parking is allowed.
