I’m Diamond, a self-taught artist based in Chicago, IL. My art journey began at the age of seven, inspired by a classmate who often drew charming Kawaii versions of herself. Watching her create sparked something in me, and soon I began drawing cartoon versions of myself, my family, and eventually, imaginative characters from my own mind.
As I grew older, my passion for art faded for a while, until 2018, when I lost my dad. During that difficult time, I turned to painting as a way to express my grief and emotions that words couldn’t capture. That moment reignited my love for creating and reminded me of the healing power of art.
Since then, my practice has expanded beyond painting to include digital illustration, animation, and sculpture. Today, I’m pursuing my dream of becoming an art educator, with the hope of inspiring young artists to discover their voices and express themselves through creativity, just as art has done for me.
