During this week students were able to create their own superhero along with superpowers. This can be expanded from wherever their imagination takes them. During this, they were able to base their superhero and powers on ideas used from personal context and or inspiration.
To start the week students were presented with something called accordion booklets based on an artist named Etel Adan. With these booklets, students were able to display their dreams and what they might look like with the variation of materials and colors.
Week 3 (Franceska)- How can we express our feelings and emotions through abstract art?
Throughout the time of this lesson, the students got time to think about how they might feel at times. They were able to think about this when connecting emotions with shapes and colors. Being able to describe how they feel through the idea of abstract art.
Week 4-5 is where students were able to take a step into the 3D-creating world. Being able to use 3-D and 2-D materials students created their very own creature. This was accomplished by being introduced to textures, materials, and colors. Lastly, students using their masks can perform how their creature would act in front of their very own backdrop (habitat).
This week was dedicated to the concept of community. Students created their city. Adding things that they think would best contribute to what they would need. Emphasizing the meaning of teamwork. While everyone has a role in making and contributing, showing the importance of connections.
Going into fall break the students got a chance to think about a space that makes them safe and comfortable. To help the students decide how they want their dream living room to look there was a discussion created. During this discussion, there were various questions asked regarding the foods, furniture, space, people, etc that might take place in their very own dining room.
