Check the Registration File
Thank you to the schools who’ve already notified us of students unable to attend. Please review the registration file and confirm that all highlighted students (in green) are still able to attend all three judging sessions.
We are held accountable as a region for “no-shows,” so please let us know ASAP if any additional students cannot attend. We’d much rather reassign their spots than risk being charged.
The registration file is open for editing. Please continue to work with the state qualifiers to edit their papers and resubmit a link to the edited paper packet (abstract, safety sheets, any endorsement, and the full paper).
Updated links must be in the file by Friday, April 4th. We will submit the file to the state at midnight.
Please share this link with families! Remember that only registered volunteers or judges are permitted in the State Farm Center during poster sessions. Be sure your volunteers select REGION 5 on the form so we receive credit for your time.
We need:
One judge per every two posters
One judge per paper
Emergency Contact Information: Emailed to all Sponsors
Starting this year and for all subsequent fairs, IJAS will require all students participating in the state fair to complete a short form collecting emergency contact information. Sponsors should have received this form via email in early April. This form will ask for the student's name, school, age, pertinent medical concerns, and contact information for a parent and/or legal guardian who should be contacted during the fair. All information provided will be safeguarded and will only be used in the event of an emergency. IJAS staff will monitor compliance.
To Do:
Sponsors will be responsible for collecting completed forms and emailing them to security@ijas.org, an IJAS-shared email inbox.
Please bring the paper copy to credential check-in at the fair.
All fair participants must have a completed photo release, with a parent and/or legal guardian indicating whether any images or videos from the fair containing their child can be used in IJAS marketing materials. Students who do not have a signed photo release will receive a colored sticker on their credentials so IJAS volunteers can quickly identify a student who cannot be pictured. We intend to include this with the emergency contact information form, and sponsors will be responsible for collecting the forms and emailing them to an IJAS shared email inbox.
Each school sponsor needs to submit ONE pdf of all the forms from their school.
The current Photo Release can be used this year.
Submit the pdf to security@ijas.org
Please be aware of the State Farm Center's Clear Bag Policy.
Laptops or tablets will be allowed as an exception.
All participants, judges, and volunteers will enter through the West Entrance.
Check out the IJAS Website for the full schedule, links to the Hotels, Banquet, Field Trips, Campus Tours, and more. There are also links to the UIUC campus information and Experience Champaign Urbana activities and dining options.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to an amazing State Exposition with our Region 5 students!
To participate in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) Regional and State Expositions, all schools must register with IJAS. This includes paying an annual state membership fee of $100, due by December 31, 2024. Late fees may apply. Schools must also submit the IJAS registration or renewal form.

Only students from IJAS member schools are eligible for the State Exposition.
Students whose schools register only with a region (not the state) cannot advance to State without IJAS membership.
Students must compete under their school’s name and IJAS number and follow that school’s participation guidelines.
*Homeschools and students not affiliated with a registered school must register as individual members.
Regional registration is required for students to enter the IJAS competition series. Students must qualify at the regional level to advance to State.
