As your child prepares for the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) competition, your encouragement and involvement make a huge difference. Here are some meaningful ways to support both your student and our Region 5 community:

Listen to their presentation and offer specific, helpful feedback.
Ask questions that help them think more deeply about their work.
Get Organized Together

Sit down together and create a project timeline or checklist.
Help your child plan ahead for research, experiments, and presentation practice.
Volunteer Your Time

Help with fair setup, check-in, or student supervision.
Consider signing up to serve as a judge—training will be provided!
Be part of the celebration of student science in our region.

Donors may choose to sponsor a special award or contribute to the overall event.
Business sponsors will be featured on our website. Private donors will be acknowledged as well.
