All KOE students from HEIs (for Year 2 to Year 4 ONLY).
The outbound program described above is where a registered student of Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University is attached to a partner university abroad for a period of less than a year. Students pay only their home institution’s tuition fees. No additional tuition fees are imposed by the host institution. However, students are required to pay administrative fees, visa application fees, and other incidental fees. They also pay for their own living, accommodation and transport (flight and land) expenses.
The outbound program may also be with non-partner HEIs. In this case, you need to pay the home as well as the host institution’s tuition fees. Other expenses such as accommodation, airfare, local logistics and personal expenses shall also be borne by individual students.

It is the requirement of the Malaysian Ministry of Education and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) that all students pursuing higher education in Malaysian institutions must meet the entry requirements of the relevant programs. This requirement also covers study abroad students who plan to study short-term courses in the host institution.
All courses in IIUM are conducted in English. It is a requirement that students who apply to study at IIUM must have a suitable level of English proficiency. The general requirement for entry into a degree program is IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550.
Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM offers the Student Exchange and Mobility program to expose our students so they can exchange, explore, and experience the world beyond their boundaries. Students can apply to participate in the program for an enriching experience that will enhance their personal and professional development. The outbound mobility program is available and is offered to IIUM students to be attached to any of our partner universities abroad for a period of less than a year. The outbound may be undergone in the following modes:
Physical Mobility
Virtual Mobility; and
Edutourism Mobility.
It can be implemented on credited or non-credited. The credited mobility program requires a minimum of at least one semester and a maximum of two semesters. The non-credited mobility program can be implemented in a short term of one (1) day or a minimum of four to eight (4-8) hours cumulatively to three (3) months and in a long term of more than three (3) months to twelve (12) months.
Edutourism Mobility is a program under the Mobility program with a tourism activity by registered IIUM students by visiting the international host HEI, where the educational and learning process in the host university is the largest contribution to their visit. This program involves the admission of IIUM students to spend at least overnight in the country to participate in the Edutourism program at the host university for a period of not less than one (1) day to six (6) months.
Blended Mobility Program is a Mobility program where part of the program is run physically and partly online, attended by the same students at both physical and virtual sessions.
Hybrid Mobility Program is a Mobility program that is attended by some of the students physically, and the rest of the students virtually at the same time.
From the programs mentioned above, we can be further categorized into the following activities:
academic and research;
student exchange;
industry mobility;
academic visit;
summer/winter course;
cultural exchange;
industrial internship; and
other related activities.
Note: For the industrial internship program, it requires at least 10 weeks duration. For the virtual program, its minimum duration must not be less than 8 hours.
