Log on to the official e-learning platform iTa'Leem daily for updates or class announcements from your lecturers.
Besides iTa'Leem, other widely-used platforms during online classes are Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp and so on. Normally, lecturers will inform their students of their preferred mode of online learning in iTa'Leem first. So be sure to go to iTa'Leem and find out which platforms are used by your lecturers for all of your courses right at the beginning of the semester.
Hybrid or online learning is just as hectic (if not, more) as regular F2F learning, so please try to stay organized. Some tips:
Have a separate folder for each of your course.
Store all your class materials, assignments and work-in-progress on Google Drive or OneDrive (instead of your local drive) for easy access anywhere you go.
Have a monthly planner to jot important dates/deadlines for all of your courses - a bird's eye view of things.
Plan your weeks in advance so you can work out which assignments to do first. Note that assignments tend to be more towards the end of the semester, so spread out your "stress" as much as possible.
Inform your lecturers if you face any problems as early as possible. If your lecturers have informed their deadlines at the beginning of the semester, you cannot play the ignorant game.
Many courses use Zoom or Google Meet as their main platforms during remote teaching and learning. If you have poor or unstable internet connection, please inform your lecturers so they are aware of your situation.
If your classes utilize the Google ecosystem, please know how to use Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Forms and Google Slides. (Basic Tutorials)
If your classes utilize Microsoft Teams, please use your live IIUM email and learn how to navigate the hub. Feel free to seek guidance from your lecturers.
No matter how busy you get, please get as much sleep as possible. Without enough sleep, the brain cannot function properly. This can impair your abilities to concentrate, think clearly, and process memories. Most adults require between seven and nine hours of nightly sleep. (Source: Sleep Foundation)
