What is Community Engagement?
In its simplest sense, community engagement is performing work in the community in the effort to help improve or add value to the community. For instance, mentoring programmes, cleaning parks or rivers and clothing donation drives. Community engagement seeks to better engage the community to achieve long-term and sustainable outcomes and relationships, among others. We encourage all KENMS students to take part in community engagement activities organized by all societies, Kuliyyah, Mahallah, Offices, Centers, Institutes and Divisions of the university. IIUM currently has 46 flagships programmes, each aim to engage with the community in their own way.

Opportunities for KENMS Students
There are currently 4 flagship projects headed or co-headed by lecturers at the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS), namely Sejahtera YSM, mKitchen, TACTIC and OKU4u. In addition, there is also the i-Taajir programme organized by the Centre of Islamic Economics (CIE). Students at KENMS are encouraged to take part in any of these projects to gain experience in community engagement as well as develop relevant skills.
Sejahtera YSM
Sejahtera YSM
Sejahtera YSM is a 21-month IIUM strategic project to uplift the economic position and wellbeing of Sejahtera community. Youth and single mothers within the RCE Greater Gombak are the focus group of this project. Check out their promotional video and social media for more information!

mKitchen
mKitchen
mKitchen is a joint venture between IIUM and mosques throughout Malaysia and abroad to strengthen the role of mosques in assisting the needy with Soup Kitchen programmes as well as creating employment opportunities in the F&B and delivery. TACTIC
TACTIC
TACTIC is one of the IIUM Flagship 2.0 projects. It stands for Training and Advocacy of Technological Innovation and Commercialization. OKU4U
OKU4U Sejahtera and Islamic Outreach Project is one of IIUM’s major flagship projects. As the University strives to achieve the characteristics of Balanced Persons amongst its graduates and staff as well as the neighbouring community, no single individual should be left behind, especially the disadvantaged group that require special needs and attention, namely Persons with Disabilities (PwDs or OKU). i-Taajir
i-Taajir
CIE - CIMBi Program Bimbingan Usahawan Tijari (i-Taajir) is a program conducted by the Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE) fellow researchers to offer Islamic Microfinance scheme to micro-entrepreneurs in Gombak area. This program is a pilot study to test the feasibility of several models of Islamic microfinance developed by the researchers. It is a platform to implement and put in practice the theoretical aspect of research. This program is undertaken in collaboration with CIMB Islamic as the main partner.
