I pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Zoology (Hons.) from Calcutta University and then moved to Central University of Punjab for my Master’s study in Human Genetics. As my interest in the field of Genomics and Proteomics is long-standing, I joined the BioX Centre of Indian Institute of Technology Mandi as a project associate with an intension to contribute in the same field. Here, my works are mostly oriented to plasma proteomic analysis of dilated cardiomyopathy patients.

Joint PhD student with Dr. Bhaskar Mondal, SCS, IIT-Mandi (Thesis Submitted)
I have completed my B.Tech in Biotechnology from G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (UK). While doing my M.Tech thesis work at IIT Mandi, I have developed a keen interest in molecular modelling and QM/MM simulation of proteins that inspired me to convert my M.Tech into M.Tech+PhD. The structure of collagen intrigues me more than any protein. Currently, my work is focussed on understanding the molecular changes in the structure of collagen due to various post-translational modifications. I want to contribute to the field of structural biology by getting more insight of collagen structure using computational simulation. I am an optimistic and hard-working person. I like listening to music and writing shayaris and poetries (in Hindi) in free time.

I have joined Ph.D. program in the School of Biosciences and Bioengineering (SBB) at IIT Mandi. I have completed my B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. in Physiology from the University of Calcutta. The focus of my research is to understand the mechanistic aspects of cardiac fibrosis. Cardiac fibrosis is a salient phenomenon in the etiology of most of the cardiovascular diseases. So, I am interested to decipher the role of cardiac fibrosis in the progression and development of cardiovascular diseases. Apart from academics, I have an interest in exploring new places, listening to music, photography, yoga, and dancing.

Co-guide Dr. Dilip Kumar, Trivedi School of Biosciences, Ashoka University
I have joined the IIT Mandi PhD program in School of Biosciences and Bioengineering(SBB). I am from a Microbiology background. I did my graduation from University of Calcutta and Masters from Banaras Hindu University in Applied Microbiology. I have always been interested in Molecular Biology and recently developed interest in Proteomics because of its promising future aspects in disease biology. My area of research is mainly focused on the prolyl-hydroxylation of Collagen in Extracellular cellular matrix (ECM) of cardiovascular diseases.

I am Yanjan Sharma, currently joined as a PhD scholar in the Cardiometabolic Lab. I have completed my Bachelor in Life Sciences from Government College Karsog, Mandi and my Master’s in Zoology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. I am interested in focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiac hypertrophy, a key factor in the progression of cardiovascular diseases. With a deep interest in understanding how the heart responds to stress and adapts structurally, I aim to investigate the pathways contributing to hypertrophic growth and its implications for heart failure. Beyond academics, I love listening to music, and spending time in nature and wildlife photography.

Joint scholar with Dr. Dilip Tiwari, Trivedi School of Biosciences, Ashoka University
I completed my B.Sc. in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia and M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences from ACBR, University of Delhi. During my master’s research, I explored combination therapies for cancer, integrating experimental and computational approaches to investigate drug interactions. This interdisciplinary experience deepened my interest in structural biology and proteomics, particularly in understanding how protein structure relates to biological function. Currently, I am involved in studying the structural aspects of lysyl oxidase (LOX), an enzyme critical for collagen crosslinking. Outside of research, I enjoy painting and dancing, which offer a creative balance to my scientific pursuits.
