Dr. Satish Naik Banavath : Keynote Speaker in the Students and Young Professionals Forum of IES Society at CPE POWERENG 2024

Dr. Satish Naik Banavath of the Power and Energy Group, IIT Dharwad is to be a Keynote Speaker in the Students and Young Professionals Forum of IES Society at CPE-POWERENG conference 2024. His talk will include the emerging topologies, challenges, and applications of Solid-State DC Circuit Breakers. CPE-POWERENG is a flagship conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) devoted to the dissemination of new ideas, research and work in progress within the fields of power electronics, renewable energy integration, power generation, transmission and distribution, power systems, electromechanical energy conversion, automation and EMC/EMI issues. OP1300 Power Electronics Testbench Demonstration   

A new Opal-RT based OP1300 power electronics testbench was purchased and a demonstration was conducted involving the same. The demonstration involved basics of Opal-RT Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) using Imperix Half Bridge Modules, Imperix Passive Rack, and discussion about various features of the testbench. The event concluded with a demonstration of modelling of the controller for a Three-Phase Grid Connected Inverter and uploaded to the testbench, which was interfaced with the physical electrical grid system for active power transfer.

PSCAD Training Program

A three day training program on  PSCAD software was  hosted by the esteemed faculties of the Power and Energy Group. This comprehensive program offered an in-depth exploration of PSCAD features, providing invaluable insights for our participants. A special thanks to Mr. Suraj of Nayak Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. for his expertise and dedication in leading these sessions. His contributions have been instrumental in enhancing the learning experience for all involved.

Lab Inauguration in Permanent Campus, IIT Dharwad

On the auspicious occasion of Ugadhi & Gudi Padwa, we have inaugurated the new labs of the Power Group in the Permanent Campus in the Engineering Building. Over the next few weeks we will be transitioning to our new home and starting some new and exciting research projects.
