ExLENT participants are awarded full tuition coverage for the 9-credit Certificate Program. Each Scholar will be offered $ 6000.00 stipend for internship in a company via our industrial partners.
Eligibility Criteria:
The participants don’t have to be enrolled in any institutions. Any veteran who
Has a BS degree in any STEM field;
Is passionate about a career in advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, environmental control, semiconductor and microelectronics;
Fulfills minimum time commitment of 10-15 hours per week for the supertised project and full-time for the industrial internship to complete the ExLENT Program in 8-12 months.
Minority and disability status of the applicant will be prioritized to meet the goal of this NSF-funded program.
Special approval will be granted to exceptional applicants who don’t hold a BS degree or are currently enrolled junior or senior in local universities.
Application Requirements:
Prospective applicants are expected to review the list of project abstracts posted on the CPSTEL Program website, select 1-3 projects that fits best with the individual’s interest and goal, and reach out to faculty and potential industrial mentors for consultation.
A personal statement is required to outline the applicant’s educational background and motivation for the certificate training, post-award professional goal to line with the ExLENT goal, ways to manage the rigorous commitments of the program, and additional information including self-identification with regards to any dimension of diversity, previous relevant experiences, any extenuating circumstances for low grades, among others.
A CV and official transcript must be submitted.
Applicants will be interviewed to assess their commitment to complete the certificate program. Participants’ motivation/intent and their minority/ disability status will be prioritized in the selection process, aligning with the goal of this project. For participants with an unideal academic record or lack of educational training in the area of their desired ExLENT training, remedial courses will be recommended.
