Application and Program Timeline

Application timeline:

• ExLENT participants may start the Certificate Program in the Spring, Summer or Fall semester (see Academic Calendar).

• Prospective participants are expected to complete applications by March 1st, April 1st, or Sept 1st in order to start the Program in Summer, Fall, or Spring semester.

• Selected ExLENT participants are notified in 4-6 weeks.

Program Timeline:

The Certificate Program consists of three courses.

• Participants may take the lecture in the 1st semester, the on-campus project in the 2nd semester, followed by the internship in the 3rd semester to complete the Certificate Program in 12 months.

• Participants can also choose to take the lecture and the on-campus project in the first semester, followed by the internship in the next semester to complete the Program in 8 months.

• Two oral presentations are required, one upon completion of the on-campus project, one at the end of the internship. A final report is required to complete the Certificate Program.

• A sample time table for participants starting in the Fall for either a 12-month program (black) or an 8-month program (red) is shown in Table 1. Participants may choose to start in the Spring or Summer with a similar schedule.

• The lecture course and on-campus project are evaluated by a letter grade, and the industrial internship is evaluated by pass/fail. Participants are expected to achieve a GPA of 3.0 or above to be awarded the Certificate.
