Hierarchical multi-agent systems for modeling, supervision, and control of distributed complex systems

Interdisciplinary research on distributed artificial intelligence and multi-layered, intelligent, and adaptive multi-agent systems to develop a new framework for monitoring, analysis, diagnosis, and control with agent-based system and to supervise the operation of distributed complex systems.

Agent-based modeling of mammalian cell bioreactors used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing

Mammalian cell bioreactors are used in manufacturing biopharmaceutical active drugs ingredients. A detailed computational model is being developed to describe the performance of the cells and predict the yield. Also, a new research direction focusing on real-time automated monitoring and control of these reactor systems is being conceived. This will benefit from the model-predictive control techniques that we are developing for the artificial pancreas project.
