MATERIALS PROCESSING & TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY
MATERIALS PROCESSING & TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY
The Materials Processing & Technology Laboratory is engaged in the development and characterization of advanced engineering materials. The lab focuses on the relationship between processing parameters, microstructure, and material performance, supporting both teaching and cutting-edge research. It provides hands-on exposure to students and researchers in modern material processing and evaluation techniques.
Research Aspects:
Advanced Casting Techniques:
Development of novel casting routes such as double ultrasonic two-stage stir casting for fabricating metal matrix and hybrid nanocomposites with improved dispersion and interfacial bonding.
Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) Processing:
Investigation of grain refinement and strengthening mechanisms in aluminum alloys and composites through cryorolling and other SPD techniques.
Surface engineering and coatings to improve wear, corrosion, and oxidation resistance.
Advanced microstructural and mechanical characterization using state-of-the-art analytical tools.
Emphasis on sustainable and energy-efficient materials processing, including the use of recycled and eco-friendly reinforcements.
