RSD 2022

The 5th edition of Research Scholars Day of IIITDM Kancheepuram was successfully conducted on 28th February 2022 in hybrid mode- online and offline. The Inaugural Session was made auspicious by the presence of Dr. S. Narayanan and Dr. M. Sreekumar, Director in-charge who addressed the gathering, followed by a message from the Director, Dr. D. V. L. N. Somayajulu that was conveyed to the students by Dr. Binsu J. Kailath, Dean Academics. Two Poster Presentation sessions were organized, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with 60 posters being presented in the Exhibition hall facilitating an interaction between the research scholars, faculty and the rest of the student community. The 1st Plenary Talk was given by Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras on the topic, Towards Atmanirbhar India. He emphasized on the importance of having specialized 5G standards for India and further stressed on the pressing need to explore the field of data science and data analytics. The afternoon session started off with the 2nd Plenary Talk, Why is My Paper Not Getting Accepted? by Prof. C. Balaji, IIT Madras. He gave the students informative suggestions on the process of writing and publishing research papers, focusing on the need to select appropriate journals to avoid rejection as well as the importance of ethics in publication. This session was followed by two Alumni Talks. Dr. Chandu D. S., VIT AP and Dr. C. Oswald, IIT Kanpur both shared their experiences as Research Scholars in the Institute and also briefed the students on the many job and post-doctoral opportunities and fellowships available for them. Mr. Rajalingam A., Research Affairs Secretary kickstarted the Valedictory Function with a presentation of the Report followed by a Feedback Session on RSD 2022 by Dr. Binsu J. Kailath. The Registrar, Mr. A. Chidambaram also addressed the students wherein he impressed upon those present the importance of branding and showcasing research work. Certificates were distributed to the poster presenters by Dr. M. Sreekumar, Dr. Binsu J. Kailath and Mr. A. Chidambaram. Ms. Hemalatha V. gave the Vote of Thanks followed by the National Anthem. Research Scholars Day 2022 concluded with a Walkathon, organized by the Sports Unit of IIITDM Kancheepuram and was flagged off by Dr. M. Sreekumar, Director in-charge and Dr. Binsu J. Kailath, Dean Academics.
