RESPONSIBLE and TALENTED Crew Members who are willing to work together to make the magic of theatre happen!
The Interview is a good “get to know you” and your abilities. It is pretty stress-free; we just want to see your handling of responsibilities and how you may fit with the respected crews. We will put selected students where they fit best.
TIPS FOR PREPARING FOR AN INTERVIEW
DETAILS: This is a new crew experience where we will be assembling a smaller crew for the filming, editing, and production of a behind the scenes documentary video of the All-State show experience. We will be utilizing students to film, direct, light, and edit the film to be shown and distributed to the cast and crew. We may also be asked to assist with some of the needs of the show for projections and video production if necessary.
You may be a part of the technical crew AND the video crew - they are not mutually exclusive!
Digital Application Part 1: Digital Submission of Film Work
Instructions: Showcase your work with a digital submission. Prepare a 1-2 minute video compilation of either one or more clips of any films or projects you have been a part of a crew for. Highlight your role (director, cinematographer, skills, and experience) in this/these film clips. If you have never been on a video crew, then just try and film a little something in your theatre world and put it together. The important thing is to help us to see through the camera how you see the world around you.
Tips:
Start new clips with a title or text identifying the film and your role in it
Let the work speak for itself
You only need to show a clip that highlights your role and not tell the whole story
If possible show your work/process
If you served in multiple roles for your films, highlight each role.
Think about changing angles when filming POV, selfie, long shot, or close ups
Show us why you should be part of the All-State Video Crew.
This portion should be between 1-2 minutes and highlight your work in either Editing, Cinematography, Directing, Lighting, Sound, or on Camera Acting.
Digital Application Part 2: Interview
Instructions: As a second part of your digital submission, prepare a 2-3 minute interview portion where we see you address the following questions on camera. This can be filmed anywhere as long as we can hear and see you. This portion is to tell us about your experience and interest in video production.
Questions:
What types of roles have you had in video production in making/filming videos?
What roles do you prefer to do when making a video?
How are you connected both to the Theatre community and video community?
Why do you want to be a part of this particular crew?
Who is one of the creators, filmmakers, films or shows that inspire you?
Tips:
Be confident in yourself and your work
Talk about what you’ve done, and what you hope to do
Connect some of the elements that make your experience unique
Tell us why you should be part of the Video Production Crew.
This is our chance to meet you!
