Technology Integration

Parents and students are required to sign the AoB Chromebook contract before students may begin using their school-provided device. A paper copy is provided to middle school students at the Meet and Greet.

Here is a list of some of the expectations outlined and referred to in the contract.

Students will:

  • share their username and password with their parents to give them full access to their Google Classroom, Gmail and all work completed in Google Workspace

  • create a safe password to prevent intruder access to any school account (1-mn video reminder available here)

  • handle the Chromebook with care, including:

      • securing it in the school-provided carrying case before taking it to another class

      • pulling the strap of the carrying case over their head so that the case is strapped across the body, not just on one shoulder

      • upon arriving in a classroom, placing the Chromebook case either in their desk or carefully slung on the back of their chair in such a way that it could not accidentally be kicked or stepped on

      • being cautious in how they place it on a desk so that it is not likely to fall

      • never eating or drinking near it, nor leaving a water bottle near it

      • recalling that they and their family accepted financial responsibility for repairing or replacing the Chromebook if they should cause damage to it, even accidentally

  • not treat the Chromebook as if it were personal property, including:

      • only using it for sanctioned educational purposes

      • not installing any apps or extensions without permission

      • not decorating it, for example, with stickers

      • only using it with teacher permission

      • being mindful that IHM makes use of GoGuardian both to support student use of devices and to monitor that use; nothing done on the device should be considered private
